Privacy Policy

FOOSH TECH LLC ("we", "us", or "our") built Kunuz Al-Sharq (the "App") as a freemium app for reading and listening to classic Arabic literature. The App is free to download but contains advertisements and optional in-app purchases, and is provided for use as is. This page explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.

If you choose to use the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in line with this policy. We do not use or share your information except as described here.

Information We Collect and Use

To provide and improve the App, we may collect or process:

Account information — when you sign in, your Google/Firebase user ID and, when available, your email address, display name, and profile photo.
Reading activity and preferences — reading progress, bookmarks, favorites, completed stories, and reading statistics (such as your reading-day streak and listening minutes).
Purchase information — needed to verify Google Play in-app purchases, such as the product ID, purchase token, and the story being unlocked.
Rewarded-ad records — when you unlock content by watching a rewarded ad, the record of that reward for the content you unlocked.
Device and app-integrity information — through Firebase App Check / Google Play services, to help protect the App and our backend from abuse.
Advertising information — processed by Google AdMob when ads are shown, subject to your consent choices where required.

Authentication & Account Data

The App supports Google Sign-In. Signing in lets us restore your purchases and unlocked stories across devices, verify purchases, and provide support. You may also use the App as an anonymous guest; in that case reading happens on your device and you are not asked to provide account details.

Reading Data

Your reading progress, bookmarks, favorites, and preferences (theme, font size, narration settings, and similar) are stored on your device. Where a feature requires it — for example restoring your purchases and unlocked stories — related account and entitlement data is processed on our servers.

In-App Purchases & Entitlements

Individual stories can be unlocked through Google Play Billing. We collect and store the purchase token, product ID, and the unlocked story so we can grant and restore your access. Purchases are verified with Google so that access is granted only for genuine, completed transactions; we do not receive or store your card or payment details, which are handled by Google Play.

Rewarded-Ad Verification

When you unlock content by watching a rewarded ad, we use Google's Server-Side Verification (SSV). Google sends a secure callback to our server confirming the reward, which we use to grant access fairly. The grant is tied to your user account, never to an unverified request from the app.

Advertising

The App shows ads provided by Google AdMob, including banner ads, native ads, and rewarded ads. AdMob may process advertising identifiers and related data to deliver and measure ads, under Google's Privacy Policy.

Where required (for example in the EEA/UK), we present a consent request through Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) before personalized ads are requested. You can change your choice at any time from Settings > Privacy options in the App, and you can also limit ad personalization through your device's advertising settings.

Log Data

When you use the App, in the case of an error we (through Google Play services) may collect diagnostic information such as your device IP address, device model, operating system version, the app configuration at the time, and the date and time of the error. This data is used to identify and fix problems.

Data Retention

Account data: until you delete your account.
Purchase & entitlement records: retained for as long as needed to provide access and to meet legal, financial, and operational requirements.
Reading progress & preferences: kept on your device; you can clear them by clearing the app's data or uninstalling.
Diagnostic logs: retained only as long as needed to investigate and fix issues.

Your Data Control & Deletion

Whether you use the App as a guest or signed in, you control your data. You can sign out at any time from Settings. If you are signed in, you can delete your account and data directly in the App: Settings → Account («الحساب») → «حذف الحساب والبيانات»; this immediately deletes your account and personal server-side data (reading progress, favorites, bookmarks, entitlements, and ad-reward records). You can also request deletion by contacting admin@foosh-tech.com. Note: purchase / billing records are retained even after deletion for legal, tax, and payment-reconciliation purposes.

On-device data: reading progress, bookmarks, and preferences stored on your device can be removed at any time by clearing the app's data in your device settings or by uninstalling the App.

Your Data Rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

Access a copy of your personal data.
Correct inaccurate data.
Delete your account and data.
Opt out of personalized ads via the in-app privacy options and your device settings.

Third-Party Services

The App relies on third-party services that process information under their own privacy policies:

Google Play Billing — in-app purchases.
Google AdMob & the User Messaging Platform — advertising and consent.
Firebase Authentication — Google Sign-In.
Firebase App Check / Google Play services — app and request integrity.

We do not sell your personal information. We share limited information with these providers only as needed to operate App features, verify purchases, deliver ads, comply with law, or protect the App from abuse.

Intellectual Property & Content Rights

All elements prepared or produced specifically for the Kunuz app — including the design, images, audio files, music, and the way content is arranged and presented within the App — are copyright-protected and owned exclusively by Kunuz. Copying, extracting, reusing, sharing, or distributing these elements, whether inside or outside the App, in any form or for any purpose, is prohibited without prior written permission.

Note: some heritage texts are drawn from old or public-domain sources, but their preparation, formatting, and presentation within the App — together with the images, audio, and the overall experience — are part of Kunuz's own work and are copyright-protected.

Security

We use commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of storage is 100% secure.

Links to Other Sites

The App or its ads may contain links to sites we do not operate. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will delete it. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us so we can review the request.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date, so please review it periodically.
